It is the height of baby raccoon season. As always, our chief concern is the animal’s well-being. When you find a baby raccoon, give us a call. We will assist you in evaluating the situation to determine whether the animal needs help, and if so, what type of help would be best. NEVER FEED OR HANDLE THE RACCOON. CALL US BEFORE YOU TAKE ANY ACTION.
Here is what you can expect when you call:
We will ask you questions, and possibly ask for a picture of the animal, to determine if the raccoon is in need of medical assistance.
We will ask you to describe your observations to determine whether the animal is orphaned.
We will always try to reunite a baby with its mother as its best chance of survival is with her.
We must talk to the original finder of the raccoon. This person has the most comprehensive information. Additionally, before we proceed, we must establish whether or not a rabies exposure exists. If so, the caller must seek medical advice immediately. We take human health and safety very seriously.
Thank you for helping us protect wildlife.
